Rules:

Each week I shall post a link to a house plan website. The aim of the challenge will be to recreate the floor plan as best you can and furnish and landscape the lot. You will be judged on three factors:

How well you recreate the floorplan

Your furnishing

Your landscaping

Custom content will be allowed in this challenge but it has to stated on the entry form where the CC is from.

There are also optional challenges such as budgets, colour schemes, additional basements or garages.

Copycat Challenge 1

This week your challenge is to recreate this floorplan.


Week 1 Floor Plan

You are allowed to change closets and utility rooms however you wish and you are allowed to alter the floor plan slightly to allow space for straight stairs if you do not wish to use CFE. The rest of the floor plan must be as close as possible to the original.

The landscaping does not have to match the outside. If there are photos of the interior of the lot, this does not need to match your interior, only the shell of the house needs to look the same.

This week's floor plan has some stairs which lead down to a basement. You can choose to include the basement and furnish it however you wish, or you can take out the stairs and just have the single floor. Also, the picture already shows furniture arrangements but you do not need to follow these as long as the rooms are still in the same place.

This week's floor plan has more than one exterior picture based on the same blueprint. The one I would like you to base your exterior on is the first picture that comes up. It also has a 3 car garage. In the sims garages turn out quite big so I don't mind if you change this to a 1 or 2 car garage instead.

This week's floorplan has a 2 car garage. You may change this to a 1 car garage if you wish, or keep it as 2. You won't be able to copy the stairs on this one, however, the foyer has plenty of room for straight stairs so you shouldn't have too much of a problem there. The den and bonus room can be decorated however you wish, another bedroom, office, art studio, whatever you like; be creative.

In this week's floor plan you do not have to keep the furniture arrangement shown in the pictures. Also, you do not have to use a corner bath tub in the bathroom as some people do not have HELS. In the kitchen it shows the cooker in the breakfast bar. This can be moved.

This week's floor plan may have a bit of a tricky roof so I will accept it if you cannot do it exactly to accommodate the rooms upstairs.

3. Create a family for this house and decorate to their traits/favourites

4. Extend the garage to fit 2 cars and some bikes

In this week's floorplan don't worry too much about the shape of the upstairs. It only has one bedroom and a bathroom up there so as long as you include that, I don't mind how you shape the rest of the upstairs to fit the roof. Also, the master bathroom looks a little fiddly so if you want to make it more square/rectangular then you can. You can also make the garage a one car garage if you wish.

In this floorplan, the house sits over the water, you can do this if you wish but you can just place it flat on a lot without the lake if you would prefer. Thos slanted windows are a little awkward so if you can either use any window that you think would suit, or you can leave them out completely.

For this floorplan you may want to look for tutorials for barn roofs as you will not be able to recreate this roof perfectly. Also, you do not have to use L-shaped stairs, you can adjust the floorplan slightly to accommodate straight stairs if you wish.

There are two links here, but both use the same floorplan, I am just giving you two exterior options, you pick one.

I am giving you a month to do this challenge, partly because I do not have a lot of time to keep up with the challenges at the moment, and partly because this will be a more difficult challenge and I want to attract as many people as possible.

You may want to look at the following tutorial on how to build apartments from scratch. If you are uncomfortable downloading custom content then you do not have to download the apartment mailbox, I will let you just make a semi-playable apartment with the normal mailbox.

Also, you are allowed to use an elevator instead of the strairs if you wish. You only need to furnish one apartment, you can choose which one. The other two should have hidden markers in then as explained in the tutorial.
